OEM/ODM Customization Process: From Concept to Container

A step-by-step walkthrough of our OEM/ODM manufacturing process — covering logo design, packaging, firmware customization, sampling, and mass production timelines for B2B partners.

OEM/ODM Customization Process: From Concept to Container

At Wuhu Apex, we serve over 200 B2B partners across 45 countries with fully customized vehicle power solutions. This article details our end-to-end OEM/ODM workflow so you know exactly what to expect.

Phase 1: Initial Consultation (Day 1–3)

Every project begins with a technical consultation. Our export engineering team will:

  • Review your target market requirements and certification needs
  • Discuss branding specifications (logo placement, color scheme, packaging design)
  • Confirm product model selection and any hardware modification requests
  • Provide a preliminary quotation based on your estimated annual volume

Phase 2: Design & Artwork (Day 4–10)

Once the scope is confirmed, our in-house design team prepares:

  • Logo integration mockups — UV printing, silk-screen, or laser engraving options
  • Packaging design — retail box, industrial carton, or custom gift box
  • Firmware branding — custom boot screen, language packs, and charging profiles
  • Label compliance — CE/FCC/UL marks, barcode placement, and regulatory text
All artwork is provided as high-resolution PDF proofs for your approval before production.

Phase 3: Sample Production (Day 11–18)

After artwork approval, we produce golden samples:

  • 2–5 fully branded units with final packaging
  • Complete with all accessories and documentation
  • Shipped via DHL/FedEx express for your inspection
  • Sample cost is typically credited against the first bulk order

Phase 4: Quality Validation

Your team evaluates the samples against your specifications. Common checkpoints include:

  • Physical dimensions and weight verification
  • Logo print quality and color accuracy (Pantone matching)
  • Functional testing (cranking performance, USB output, LED modes)
  • Packaging drop test and presentation review

Phase 5: Mass Production (Day 25–45)

Upon sample approval, we schedule production:

  • MOQ: Typically 500 units for standard models, 1000 for ODM projects
  • Production capacity: 40,000+ units per month per model
  • QC process: IQC → IPQC → OQC → FQC (four-stage inspection)
  • Real-time updates: Weekly production photos and progress reports

Phase 6: Logistics & Delivery

We handle export logistics with experienced freight partners:

  • FOB Wuhu / CIF destination pricing available
  • Full container load (FCL) or less-than-container (LCL) options
  • All export documentation: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, UN38.3 test report
  • Door-to-door delivery coordination upon request
